Celebrating Ash & Cameron's Winter Wedding at St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls
When my dear friend Ashley called me to tell me she'd gotten engaged, and asked if I'd be interested in photographing their wedding, I was not just elated for her and her fiance, but thrilled because everything she does is filled with class and thoughtful details. Of course, her wedding was no different—despite a very tight timeline, this amazing couple managed to plan and execute a timeless, classic, meaningful ceremony and reception filled with nods to their beloved family and honoring their Catholic tradition.
The wedding took place at the iconic Cathedral of St. Joseph in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on an absolutely freezing February day—truthfully, I think it's the coldest wedding I've ever attended, much less photographed! But the atmosphere inside was warm, lively, and full of everything you'd hope to experience as a wedding guest. Shortly after the ceremony, we popped outside for a couple minutes (literally, three or four minutes!) to get some portraits in front of St. Joseph Cathedral.
After the wedding, guests traveled just a few blocks to eat, drink, and be merry at ICON Event Hall in downtown Sioux Falls. You'll see in some of the photos below a picture of Ashley and Cameron's wedding cake, and I just have to say a couple words here about it because it was unlike any wedding cake I've ever seen before. Pieces of it are actually a family heirloom that were used in Ash's own parents wedding (you can see the photos on the cake table of her parents!) How amazing is that!?! I think it might be one of the most meaningful and coolest wedding cakes I've ever seen.
Thank you, Ashley and Cameron, for letting me photograph your fantastic, beautiful wedding day. I have no doubt it was just a lovely beginning to an even more beautiful marriage to come!
