Lena Turns 1! Portraits & Cake Smash

Lena, one of my very first babies in the ENP First Year Experience membership, turned one and celebrated in her typically joyous fashion—and with big smiles and a cupcake!

For Lena's session, her mama brought two outfits: one for portraits, and one to wear during her cake smash. We started our session with Lena's portraits at my downtown Seward, Nebraska, photo studio, and then walked down the square to Red Path Gallery & Tasting Room (which is owned by Lena's mom and dad!). A fun note: We took Chase and Alison's maternity photos in the same place, so it was really special to get a few one-year-later photographs with sweet Lena!

Afterward, we came back to the studio and did the cake smash. Lena was so dainty eating her cupcake—she definitely enjoyed it, too! First birthday milestone photo sessions and cake smash sessions are some of my favorites because they're just plain happy. Some babies love to eat cake, some aren't sure what to do, and some (well, most) end up making a big mess. And I LOVE it. What better way to celebrate a perfect first year than to cap it off with photos!?!
